That's why silence is never neutral.

It always serves someone.

I know something about that personally.

But there are things more expensive than losing money, like losing your soul.

The question is not whether the truth will cost you.

It probably will.

The question is what your silence is costing the most marginalized people inside your church.

Most people aren't looking for a church to tell them who to vote for.

They're looking for a church willing to call out the wrong being done in Christ's name.

Immigration, racism, and poverty are not experienced as mere politics.

They're experienced as real life.

So when churches say, we don't talk about politics here, what many people inside that church hear is, we don't talk about your pain here.

Churches are already political.

The real question is what kind of world they are helping create.

Now imagine a church more committed to protecting the people and protecting the institution itself.

And so I'll close here.

Perhaps we need to be reminded.

Jesus was crucified because he confronted the powers of his day, not because he avoided them.

So, Don, you keep doing your thing.
