I like to read poetry, believe it or not.
I have a copy of T.S.
Eliot's The Wasteland on my shelf over here.
Now and then I'll pull it out because it's the most beautiful writing I've ever read in my life.
It's my favorite, favorite poem.
And how on earth somebody wrote something like that?
Because, you know, in my heart of hearts, as much as I love my research and being able to explore things that most people don't know about and finding a way to incorporate them into a story, at the end of the day, what I always dreamed of when I was young and writing was I wanted to be a good writer.
And so to read people like Hemingway or T.S.
Eliot and to look at what they do and to study the way they put a sentence together, it's like watching Roger Federer play tennis.
