There's no way to follow Jesus without a cross.
God isn't minimizing the reality of suffering, but he is telling us don't flee from it.
Don't numb yourself to it.
Don't let it overwhelm you.
Let suffering forge you.
Let suffering rip open the lie of this world.
Let your suffering glorify you and bring you closer to God so that your suffering might lead others to know him.
