We've seen some retailers who are maybe adding more in terms of they need people to work curbside pickup.
Dick's Sporting Goods said they were going to bring on 9,000
workers for the holiday season.
Dollar Tree said they were going to hire seasonal workers in their annual hiring event in October, the same amount as last year.
Amazon is obviously ramping up their hiring so they can get ready for that massive wave of people ordering online this year.
And there's obviously going to be more online hiring this year.
So some retailers are hiring because especially for warehousing and logistics, they need people to get, you know,
holiday gifts ready for the season.
So that is still in demand, and we will see some of those.
Some places it might not be quite as much in past years, but places like Dick's Sporting Goods, Dollar Tree, Amazon have indicated that they will be bringing on their seasonal workers.
Well, there is still a need, especially for skilled workers, and there were higher unemployment benefits.
And to entice people to come back, companies are offering employees better compensation in some cases, especially ones that are really in need of workers and can afford to do so.
Not everybody can, but the ones that can, that are hiring, are offering maybe flexible hours, signing bonuses.
We've seen
some raising wages from what was $10 an hour to 14 with the unemployment benefits were kind of created to match what a $15 minimum wage would be.
So a lot of employers are kind of being forced to maybe raise a wage from 10 to 14, 10 to $15 an hour.
So that's definitely one way they're trying to entice workers to come back, especially if they're really in need of workers and trying to
bulk up on their seasonal staffs and warehouse workers.
That's one way to entice them.
It's blown up in a lot of places, and schools that have been considering it for a while are now thinking that this is probably good timing.
