And it was pre-Pistols.

You could see where they took everything from that, from Jamie Reed and all that.

And I saw a photograph of Tristan Tzara, and I loved his hairstyle.

And I go, well, this is kind of Bowie Berlin-ish, the wedge thing.

So I went and had my hair cut exactly like that.

No one looked like that.

And then because of Bowie, I started putting makeup on.

But the whole thing about the Dadaists was that it was punk rock.

pre-punk it was uh uh certainly a little nihilistic but when they existed uh there was war um it was kind of like reflective of what happened to the punk boxing so it's all relevant to me uh zara's manifestos i have all these books on on dadaism that i collected over time i stole the one from the library actually um that's very dada of you

And the idea of him doing the cut-ups, like pre-burrows, putting them in a hat and then taking them out one by one at random and just reciting them pissed a lot of people off at the poetry readings back in that day.

And the poetry readings back in the day were like punk gigs.

They became violent because people didn't understand the Rites of Spring, the Stravinsky, where they rioted.

Yeah, walked out.

Yeah, so it was kind of like all of that.

And that really interested me because you must be...

touching someone somehow to make them react like that so that was part of of what really attracted me was uh his his the power that he had yeah and and how people didn't like him because of certain ways that he acted sure you know so that really that really turned me on i really dug it did it did it affect the way you listen to music

Actually, it did.

I'm a big believer in the outsider art and outsider artists.

I think they have more to say than most people.
