A few months ago, I'm at a concert, a jazz concert.

Herbie Hancock and Friends.

Yes, that Herbie Hancock, the legendary jazz pianist of the Miles Davis Quartet.

Parts of the concert were absolutely dazzling.

Herbie's 86-year-old hands fleeing effortlessly across the keys, dazzling us with the music he was able to play.

jazz standards, all the things we long to hear from him.

And other parts of the concert were simply horrible.

Like when he wouldn't stop talking about AI and the dangers within through an antiquated vocoder digital voice transitional technology.

And it was just horrible.

20 minutes, he wouldn't stop.

Absolutely self-indulgent musings.

And we hated it.

And the audience was starting to revolt.

Now, this got me to think after the concert,

Is art for the artist or is art for the audience?
