It's almost too much for both of us.

So I thought, you know, on this question of is art for the artist or is art for the audience?

Who could answer that better than someone who's been playing jazz for 20 plus years in front of countless audiences?

And jazz is known for being kind of in the pocket.

Like sometimes it's for the audience and the audience likes it.

And sometimes the audience doesn't understand what the players are doing.

This is the perfect person.

So Thompson Neeland, thank you so much helping us tackle this question today.

Yeah, well, Thompson, I made the mistake of having a call about three days ago where we touched on some of the thoughts early on.

And we we literally had to cut each other off.

It was too much like you don't want to blow the wad before the episode.

So I had to cut us off at that.

But what we came to about this question is art for the artist or is art for the audience, which I think is a fantastic, rich question.

And it crosses all disciplines, not even art.

It's even outside of art, believe it or not.

But we started with this idea, you know, the first thing Thompson said is, you know, I've been thinking about this all week and he's like, you know, art.

So if art is for the artist, you think of like art, the artist as an explorer, like a self-contained explorer on the search for something new, like in some ways by themselves.

So the artist as the explorer,

versus the artist as a collaborator, drawing audiences in, bringing them together, coalescing people into a sort of a unified group dynamic, collaborative, inclusive,

So that is the dichotomy.
