Yeah.
Mortgage loans, auto loans, home equity lines of credit,
student loans, you name it, the Fed raises rates and rates go up.
So the increase so far hasn't been huge.
One reason they've hit a multi-year high is that rates since the recession have been pretty low.
But in the case of mortgages, which is typically the largest loan that the American household takes out,
It's gone up from 3.95% in early January to 4.54% last week.
That's the average fixed rate mortgage over 30 years.
And that's pretty significant when you're taking out hundreds of thousands of dollars.
And in a lot of cases, over 30 years, it adds up.
Yeah, the economy is strong.
Unemployment is at the lowest level since the late 90s.
Really, we've only seen unemployment this low twice since the 1960s.
And people are getting bigger paychecks.
The tax cuts for some households have paid off.
And so there are these countervailing effects that have
overall kind of helped the economy and helped consumers.
