I mean, we're basically right on the end.

Next stop is Donegal.

I mean, that's how far along the peninsula we are, the Atlantic Ocean right behind me here.

And so you do get winds.

And we are forecasting certainly on Thursday and Friday gusts of possibly up to 30 mile an hour.

Now, you throw that in with green speeds that, you know, modern day green speeds, which are, you know, running at 12 or 13 that dry out even more and get faster in the afternoons.

And, you know, that's when you run into problems like they have done in the past.

It is, and strategy is a big, big part of it.

It's not a huge part of modern golf nowadays, but it certainly is when it comes to tests like Shinnecock.

And one of the things also to bear in mind as you watch it on TV, Joe, and it's something that I've kind of learned over the years more so than ever, is short-sighting yourself is a real problem at a golf course with rock-hard greens like we're going to have this week because there's not much rain forecast.

We had heavy rain here last night, by the way, but there's no more rain really in the forecast for the rest of the week.

uh but we are going to have winds which will dry out the golf course so you're going to have firm fast conditions and one of the things to watch for on tv is short-sighted is more to do with where you've missed it with the wind than anything else so i mean a hole that's downwind you don't want to miss the green short and then you're having a chip shot or a bunker shot from front of the green onto a rock hard green that's also downwind

So the wind is a real factor when it comes to the short game, whether it be in a Lynx golf course, but also around here in Shinnecock.

So missing it in the right places is one thing, but missing it where you're chipping into the wind makes things a whole lot easier.

I think they're respected, but you'll see a lot of guys losing their head around here.

There's going to be a lot of bad bounces.

There's a lot of kick-offs.

Some good shots will get bad results.

I mean, you're going to see some great driving.

You're going to see some power driving.
