It was an interesting time for me.

I had known Ron Nevison for years, the producer.

And we finally went in to work with him on an album that some people like and some people don't like.

But I was thrilled to go in with him because Ron had done Zeppelin.

He had done Heart.

He had done The Babies.

He had done a lot of work with really good singers, Bad Company.

And I'm in there.

First, I played him the demos.

He said, you made my work easy because we're just going to basically copy the demos.

But when I was singing and I'm thinking, he's going to take me to someplace I've never been.

And I said, I sang one of the songs and I said, let's do it again.

And he goes, why?

And I said, well, because I can do it better.

And he goes, who's going to know?

And I was like, it was kind of like, wah, wah.

I was like, really?

But yeah, I mean, Robert Plant was very, very important, as was Steve Marriott as a performer and as a conduit, as a preacher.

That was Noddy Holder.
