So, you know, I don't think that people look at Mexico and think, oh, they're definitely going to win the group or they're definitely going to make a run.
But I do think this team is capable of that.
Out of all of the host countries, the US and Canada included, I think Mexico has the best chance to make a deep run in this tournament because of how significant their home field advantage is.
And I don't just mean the fact that the crowds are volatile, which they are, and that it's very difficult to go and play in those stadiums, which it is.
But they're also going to be playing at altitude.
They've been there already for weeks training.
Once they get through the group stage, they'll have spent another essentially month at altitude working and training and playing games.
Imagine what it would look like in the round of 16 if England has to travel to the Aztec to play a knockout game at altitude against Mexico.
I am on my knees praying for that to happen.
I would love to see how England handles that.
And I could absolutely see Mexico win that game and go to the quarterfinals of a World Cup.
And by the way, if they do that, they come to the United States, they're still going to have a home field advantage.
Every Mexican fan is going to try to buy a ticket to that game of a quarterfinal of a World Cup.
So this is a team I think we should be talking about more than we are, even as I acknowledge that there are real problems with this Mexico team.
They've lost key players to injury.
They weren't.
insanely strong before those injuries.
But I just, you know, the home World Cup always boosts a team to go beyond where they normally do.
And I really think it has a chance to do that with Mexico.
Oh, it would have been wonderful.
