And that's a really hard lesson to learn.
So we were trying really hard to be as different as we could from Copperfield, as different as we could from Henning, as different as we could be from Saturday Night Live.
We were trying to be very different from all of those.
And we would do shows.
You know, it got later, it got into Vegas.
People called me after the show and say, oh, man, I saw two shows here in Vegas.
I saw you and I saw Copperfield.
Two greatest shows ever seen.
And the fact that part of what made us was the friction...
with other stuff we saw, does not say anything about them.
That's the thing that's so hard to remember.
When the Sex Pistols say that the Beatles suck and are fighting against the Beatles, it says nothing about the Beatles.
It only is talking about the Sex Pistols.
And so, Hitchcock said...

We were trying really hard to stay away from, um... every cliche and everything we saw.
Well, the 70s cliché was the box and torturing women and playing horrendous music and moving in a way that wasn't thought, you know?
