If anything, we're working more right now.

So how does that happen?

Well, it turns out that has to do with policy choices about what is or isn't a good use of time.

And it has to do with social choices too, right?

I mean, one question I think about a lot is if we go into the best possible scenario, we get the policy choices right, we make sure the companies act right.

This is saying a lot, but imagine that we do.

And we do in fact have, you know, most of us have a shorter work week and more money in our pocket.

How do we know we're going to use our time well?

Because in many ways, I think many of us are aching to have more time to use well.

I know just doing my thing, I wish I had more time with my kids.

This is always the lament of a politician.

But like anybody in an intense job wishes they had more time with people they love.

But, you know, also a lot of our time right now is being absorbed by bullshit, right?

Scrolling.

Things where you spend an hour doing it and an hour later, nothing sticks.

It's exactly as if you hadn't.

Yeah, or you feel worse, but the hour is gone.

So we need to figure out how to also be better stewards of our own time.

These, by the way, are not...

This sounds like a very 21st century problem, and in one way it is.
