So you look, for example, at the tragedy of the failure of Doge.
And the thing that most upsets me about the failure of Doge is that we actually needed an effort around government efficiency.
But what we got...
was unbelievably sloppy, making math errors.
And the one thing they're supposed to be really good at ought to be math.
I don't mean like little rounding errors, like saying billion when they meant million on the quote unquote wall of receipts, the whole purpose of which was to show that they knew what they were doing and they were transparently documenting their choices.
Firing people they didn't know what they did and then having to scramble and hire them back on things like nuclear weapons safety or managing biohazards and communicable diseases.
And leaving a federal government that actually spent more after Doge than before.
Yeah.
And that was a mistake.
I was there for that.
I can tell you how the mistake happened.
There was a difficult and complex set of negotiations happening between the big three automakers to try to get to a new framework moving forward on tailpipe standards.
This event was built to kind of celebrate the agreement that had been reached.
