My brother, Glenn Adamson, who's an art historian curator at large and manabout town.
Hello, Glenn.
Hey there, Peter.
So good to be back.
And we're recording this on our birthday.
We are going to be talking about your latest book, which is called what?
It's called The Century of Tomorrows.
Great title.
And this means what exactly?
Well, that's what we'll talk about.
It's a book about predicting the future in the twentieth century.
And so what I've done is to look back at people who were trying to look forward.
The idea being that if you understand how
the future is working for people in a certain time and place, you understand a lot more about that time and place.
And it was fascinating to me while working on the project, particularly to think about how futurologists, as I call them, so these are people who assign themselves the responsibility of explaining the future to everyone else.
what claims they make about their no knowledge.
And I guess I thought that might be of philosophical interest, or it might just fit into your podcast here.
Yes, absolutely.
And also I read the book while you were writing it and had the privilege of actually even giving you feedback on it.
Sorry, else why yeah, it's really good.
