We're growing in younger people at 23% a decade and 36% a decade for young Maori as well.
Really important that we don't think of it just as an older person's disease.
It can affect anyone at any age.
So if you spot the symptoms, go get checked.
And don't take you're too young as an answer, even if it's from someone you think might know, like a GP.
You've got to go with your gut, really.
Well, the six that we recommend particularly knowing, and they are blood, which might be in the loo, might be on the paper, might be leaned from your bottom.
So blood is one that will really get your attention.
The other two that get your attention are you might have a lump.
So lump in your abdomen.
Or you might have an abdominal pain that's kind of there and just keeps being there and might come and go a bit, but still stays there weeks and weeks.
So they're the three kind of attention-grabbing ones.
But there are three quieter symptoms as well.
And they are...
A change in your bowel habits.
Now I realize it's morning, but if I can kind of say the words like frequency and firmness, if you know what I mean.
So it could be you're going a lot more often, a lot less often.
It could be things are a little bit firmer or a lot less firm.
So a change like that, that happens and stays around forever.
I'm not talking about the day after you've been out for curry.
