that's a big part of it and so there's room for improvement in some areas out there and um you know coming back healthy that you're right losing a guy like anzi kopitar's you know that's a that's a big loss he was such a staple for that team for so many years and a great leader and

um you know went on championship runs with that team back in just i think it was 12 and 14 and but just a successful team and so um you know i'm looking forward to get out there we're gonna have to like any team it doesn't matter what the team is it doesn't matter who it is and i've experienced this all over whether it was carolina or whether it was nashville or philly or the expectations whatever you have to get in there and build it as a team like you

Whatever that group does, it doesn't matter what you do the year before and after that year is over.

After this coming season is over, it won't matter what happened for the next year.

You've got to go back in and continue to find a way to get it done.

I really, truly believe that the success of a team comes from what you build during that year.

Well, I think it's different all the time, no matter where you go.

O-Dog, you remember when I got to Carolina, I think Jeff Daniels, you said your roommate, and playing, wasn't he?

Was he scouting at that point?

Right, right.

Yeah.

And so at that point, when I talked to Jim Rutherford and I was young in the league, I didn't I didn't have a list of names and it's midseason.

So I didn't really know what to do.

He said there's a couple of good guys here in Kevin McCarthy and Jeff Daniels.

And.

You know, if you consider taking them on at the end of the year, if you don't like them, you can we can talk about a change at that point.

And I think Jim knew what kind of a person Jeff Daniels was and he knew what kind of a person Kevin McCarthy was.

And he.

I think Jeff was a little bit more risky at the time because he hadn't coached, but Kevin had coached a lot of games and had already been to the finals, I think, with Carolina.

And so I took him on.
