permits under programs that represent triumphs of American democracy.
We have advanced workplace safety.
We have advanced environmental protection.
It's just that this bureaucracy has now grown up around some of these laws without us sorting out these knotty land use questions.
And I think one can be sympathetic to the argument that we have to think seriously about our national security.
security, our industrial future, and that's going to require a government role.
But that's got to be done in a thoughtful, deliberative way.
And we got a lot of catch up to do in that area.
