But if government workers aren't producing anything, but they're consuming, well, their consumption is going to push up prices if it's paid for by new money creating as opposed to taxation.
So it is.
When you see all these congressmen, we just had the testimony of Kevin Warsh and the senators and the congressmen, you know, they're really upset at the Fed.
Like, hey, we got all this inflation.
Like, what are you going to do about it?
Well, they're part of the reason we have the inflation.
It takes two to tango when it comes to inflation.
Yes, the Fed is the principal bad actor, but it's acting in concert with Congress and the president because it's Congress that is passing the deficit spending that the Fed monetizes.
And so that congressional spending is what manifests itself in inflation.
And so they shouldn't be blaming the Fed.
They should be accepting equal responsibility for having created it.
And that's also why it's disingenuous and not, I think, even wrong when the Fed chair, whether it's Warsh or whether it was Powell or predecessors said,
not to opine on fiscal policy and claim that we're not allowed to talk about it.
You can't talk about inflation or you can't do anything about inflation without considering fiscal policy when it's a driving force behind the inflation.
So instead of like ignoring those questions or refusing to answer, the Fed should be holding Congress accountable and say, look, if you want less inflation, then cut government spending.
That's what you gotta do.
Because if you don't cut government spending,
And I don't create the inflation.
We're going to have a financial crisis.
We're going to have much higher interest rates.
