They're two clubs with new managers and they're two clubs enjoying an uplift in fortunes since their appointments.

First up, David Moyes at West Ham.

He takes his team to Sheffield United on Friday night football.

Got underway with a 4-0 win over Bournemouth and then saw off Chillingham in the FA Cup.

So a good start for David Moyes, Jack.

Fair to say, though, that that appointment raised a few eyebrows.

because, of course, West Ham got rid of David Moyes about 18 months ago when they opted to go for Pellegrini instead.

If Moyes wasn't the right man for the long term back then, what makes him the right man now?

Well, I think Moyes made the point in his first press conference that he wants to be seen as someone who can do more than that.

So, obviously, avoiding relegation is the absolute priority for him at the start of his role here.

But I think it's clear that he would like to make the impression that he can take West Ham higher, Nick.

But...

Are they really in a position to kick on?

Yeah, it's definitely a tricky run coming up.

Nick, if we talk about their January transfer plans, they've been linked with Jetson Fernandes from Benfica, highly rated 20-year-old that Chelsea are reportedly also after.

In terms of West Ham planning for the future and their transfer business, Moyes is only contracted for another 18 months.

Jack has spoken about him potentially just being here to make sure that West Ham avoid relegation and get through this season.

Does that make it quite difficult for West Ham to be planning for the future and spending big money in January when they've already spent big money in the summer for Pellegrini?

OK, well, another British manager with plenty of Premier League experience is Nigel Pearson.

He's gone in at Watford and had an instant impact there as well.
