And welcome to life under Andy Burnham's Britain.

The bits that struck me was, first of all, his immediate acknowledgement that the response of lots of people watching this, lots of voters are going to be, what, this again?

And he acknowledged the fact that this turnover of PMs is not sustainable.

And he's, as he put it, the politician, sorry, the generation of politicians of which he's a part, is to blame.

So he said the first thing is we will do better.

There will be a plan.

I will bring forward a new plan for Britain, a 10-year plan, laying out a path... As ever with Andy Burnham, the specific plans were currently slightly vague, but the wasn't the most striking policy thing was this thing where he said homelessness will end.

And as you know this very well, when he became Greater Manchester Mayor, he said he would do that.

The numbers went down, some argue, because partly because of Covid and now the numbers have since been creeping up.

And his people will say that's because as a mayor, you don't have...

impact on the kind of national policy stuff.

So housing allowances, asylum seekers being kicked out of where they live.

You know, these are the kind of things as a mayor you can't control.

So he now has his hands on these enormous policy levers and can do it.

So he's obviously decided becoming prime minister with only a slightly funny mandate isn't difficult enough on its own.
