I just hope that they can keep summer banging with high-quality test cricket against high-quality opposition and a really good T20 competition that the best Aussies can play.
And I still feel like that should be the narrow focus of the goal.
And, yeah, you know, how one feels about like a wild –
merger of the stars and the renegades even though yeah the renegades might play against themselves or be called teammate or the meme team or whatever um yeah you know it depends on your perspective you know is this is this like cowboy band-aid ripping energy that he's going to drag a staid conservative fearful populace into the reality and modernity of cricket uh because it occurs to me that anybody who's in on the like who's on the inside of the game who understands how india moves uh
is quite resigned to all of these things.
But I do think, among a lot of other things, that it further brings to light our struggles in recognising and reckoning with forces beyond Australia.
And it's on us.

Yeah, and I don't know, I'll just try and like catch all of this.
I mean, on the other hand, a lot of the nerves around an influx of foreign ownership into Australian cricket was because of exactly that, you know, losing the core tenets of Australian cricket.
identity over teams and control over cricket programs and names and things that we've come to hold dear.
And so the flip side of the concern about the non-Victorian team is that it would appear as though they have created, like Nick Cummins and the Cricket Victoria have created an Australian identity team.
Right?
Yeah.
you'd imagine in and of itself should be welcomed.
I think a lot of Aussies would get behind a privatised BBL much more if they knew that the owners of the team had Australian interests first and foremost.
I mean, that would be a bit naive because private interests have...
their own interests first and foremost irrespective of their nationality so uh we know that like leagues and teams succeed when they create tribalism and identity and rivalry and stuff like that and so you know i've spoken to players who played in multiple bbl derbies who are saddened that that is over and so the creation of a rivalry isn't bad in and of itself in fact it's good but
that kind of rivalry that might be a little based on, uh, uh, matters that, uh, a little, uh, NSL, let's say, um, potentially the national soccer league.
