We had the money available because in the previous couple of years we'd had a couple of players in our salary cap who weren't playing any football whatsoever.
They were in our salary cap but they weren't playing but we'd managed to squirrel away enough money to have the money available for a player to come in at that time.
When the Lachlan Galvin thing became available, we looked at it as just a great opportunity for the future of the club.
It wasn't necessarily about last year.
It wasn't necessarily about that six-month period.
It was more about the next three years.
And in fact, the first week that he was there, and I'm not talking out of school here, the coaches sat down and said, well, I said, play him in reserve grade.
I said, you don't have to pick him.
I said, it's not about this year.
We've got him for three and a half years, not six months.
I said, you just pick the team the way you see fit.
But Lachlan Galvin forced his way into that team with his training and a lot of it at the request of some of the players that he was playing with for how impressive he was at training at that time.
So I don't think the coach was left with any choice other than to pick that kid in the side.
That's not how it worked.
Originally I said we weren't interested because he wasn't off contract until the end of 27 and his intention was to play at the Tigers โ not 27, the end of โ what year are we in โ
The end of 26, he wasn't off contract till the end of this year with the Tigers.
You know, this is a kid that they offered five years and $5 million to.
I mean, he's a pretty, he was a pretty hot commodity at the time.
Um, he wasn't off contract till the end of 26 and he intended to see out his contract.
It all happened very, very quickly.
