Yes, although you know, there's an irony here which is we've seen this you know the the the the the the the short movie of of this before, which is, you know, when when he imposed tariffs on China, one of the first things China did was uh severely restrict its agricultural imports from the United States, which are pr primarily from the states that are very heavy voters for Trump.
And the farming
community did not become disaffected with Trump.
In fact they became even more sort of nationalist.
So
And I think he's got such a sort of propaganda approach to making economic policy, uh and so far it's it's sort of hasn't disaffected people, that you can say these policies are more sustainable than you think they are.
So even when their adverse results begin to come through, you know, he'll start blaming other things on other people, and you sort of get into a bit of a vicious circle here.
Yeah, I mean I I you know, that's the when you talk to sort of, you know, reasonable people who say they're gonna vote for him, they say, Ah, you know, it's he's all all you know, it's all it's all threat, it's all positioning, it's all business strategy to to sort of win over, you know, to to force the Chinese to be more reasonable, et cetera, et cetera.
The danger with that argument, and I think, you know, I don't buy into it, because he he he really his last term was really two phases, the first two years of conventional policy, where things, you know, went okay.
They weren't they weren't great, but they went okay, and he focused on a tax cut and more conventional policies.
And then the second two years were the angry years of trade protectionism.
And, you know, then we morphed into COVID and and that was a big, big problem, the way you handled that.
So I think the issue here is, you know, which Trump do you think's gonna
gonna take over.
And and, you know, if I if I could convince myself it was the first one, I'd be a lot more
You know, I'd think much less of a discontinuity here.
But the signs are, including his political anger, all the signs are that it'll be the second on steroids.
And that includes personnel choices.
