This is one of those things that happens to a lot of autistic teenagers who are getting groomed by a predator.

They will often say everything they know that that person wants to hear and then I mean everything from if I were your mother I would let you do that, I would let you do what she's telling you you can't do.

If I were your dad, I would let you go out on that date, or I would let you watch that video or whatever.

That's how they groom autistic people.

And so again, you want to believe that individual because we're looking for someone

The other other red flag and it's so difficult to navigate though just the red flags because like I say, when you're someone who is exceptionally lonely and you you want that somebody to connect with you, you just Yay, I finally found it.

And so it's like we almost like ignore or we don't see them until we learn just how much of a brat they were

it's like you've already invested so much of yourself into this person or into this relationship or whatever it was that occurred.

then you learn exactly what you should have been paying attention to.

You know, we did have that series of discussions during Autistic Advocacy Month about boundaries.

And so your boundaries it's a good idea to take a little bit of time to assess your boundaries

And even make yourself a list of things to watch for

And also just maybe even write down what are some red flags I'm looking for.

You know, the thing is, is that you brought up the people pleasing.

There's a tendency for many autistics

to set aside their boundaries because they think they're doing a service to another person when in fact they're doing the greatest harm to themselves by doing that.
