As much as you say you see it coming into the game, I think that's the next evolution.
It kind of goes in circles, doesn't it?
It goes like, OK, we're ultra defensive, it's carrying the ball type game.
Coaches will start trying to be innovative, going, well, how do we actually get around that?
How do we move the ball?
We know when we get the ball up quicker, we get more chances of getting a shot off.
How can we do that?
What way can we create training around that to create these subconscious things in the players?
Because the players that we're seeing now at the county level in their early 20s now have been coached to carry the ball.
to be patient on the ball, to put your hand in the air, to slow the game down.
That's what they're seeing.
All the kids that are looking into Crowe Park this weekend will see at some stage, Paddy Clifford standing outside the 45, just maybe inside the 45-meter line, the opposition's 45-meter line, and just hopping on the ball and soloing the ball.
And you'll hear the commentators, you'll hear the media talking about possessions, possessions, possessions.
So everything now is built upon that.
When I was playing, it was how quick can you get that ball up the pitch and it was called a power play.
Can you get it to the wing?
Can you get it into the forward line?
Can you get up in three or four touches?
Because the team don't have a chance to get back and defend.
That's the way I think coaches are going to start thinking.
