So, you know, if I think about sort of my very best friends, if we ended up in that situation, there's no question that that's exactly how it would go down.

But there are other people in my life that I can think of right now where I care about them.
I think they care about me.
But I could see that situation playing out in a less supportive way.
And so calculate it based on how much is in the relationship bank and what kind of track record that you have.
But if this is somebody who you're really close to, if this is somebody that you can trust, try to turn it into something where you're both trying to make sure one of you gets that job.
And one of the biggest challenges in the job search is the
asymmetry of information.
The employer has all of this information.
They have their big spreadsheet with their budgets.
They know what everybody has made in that job ever since the beginning of time.
They know what all the other candidates are doing.
They know what their process is.
They know what everybody's thinking.
They have all of this information.
And you're just hanging out there with your little job description that maybe disappeared off the internet and you didn't put it in a separate document and you're trying to remember it.
Like that's terrible, right?
