So, you know, we've sort of touched on this on and off as the community has been getting more and more upset about the number of data centers we have in the county.

I've heard from residents across the county that they want data center growth significantly constrained or stopped entirely.

They are tired of the visual impacts, the noise impacts.

They're concerned about the continued expansion of the energy infrastructure, rising utility costs, and they're actually starting to be worried about the air that they breathe.

And I will say that Loudoun County would not be the first jurisdiction in the state of Virginia to initiate a temporary pause on data centers.

Fluvanna County approved such a pause in September 2025 that lasted through January 2026, while their county staff reviewed and prepared updated zoning regulations for data centers.

Suffolk City Council has been considering one as well as the Front Royal Town Council enacted a pause actually last month so I think it's time that we just press pause as we're finishing up the data center standards and locations for phase two it's what the community has been kind of begging us to do and it's going to give us the opportunity to conduct our due diligence

and establish appropriate policies and regulations and standards so that we can do better to protect our communities and our natural resources.

Brixman has said, I do want to ask you about the legality of this.

I mean, I guess if it's just a question of can you go check the legality, but you have said to us more than once that this type of thing is not legal to do.

Do you have an opinion on this?

I've checked with some of the localities referenced.

Frederick was the one that came first and I have what they're doing.

They're really looking at data center development in terms of how they're gonna regulate it from a special exception standpoint and having a new zoning district for it.

I'm not aware of what's happening in either Suffolk or Fluvanna or on what they're relying.

I do know that they don't have a lot of data centers.

And we do.

Moratorium in Virginia are discouraged.
