I think Supervisor Crony said we have 5,000 of them now in the county.
In my district, I have the only Superfund site in the county because of dangerous liquid that seeped into the groundwater and poisoned constituents and broad run farms.
And if we think about all of the diesel fuel and whatever else is needed to maintain and power those generators, if we don't think about how those are gonna be decommissioned, we could be looking at more Superfund sites
down the road.
And so I think it's really, really important that we start, you know, thinking about this and being forward looking on this to the fact that, you know, even Elon Musk has said he wants to put data centers in space.
Well, you know, I learned the other day that a lot of this processing power is going to be on
an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi pretty soon.
So sooner than we think, I believe.
So I really appreciate this initiative and I will wholeheartedly support.

I further move that the Board of Supervisors direct staff to return to a future board meeting with the results of research into the legality and feasibility of requiring a decommissioning bond as part of the approval process for new data centers.
