And as I think Tet produces that footage, these images that condition the way Americans think about the offensive, you're spot on, Don.
Militarily speaking, this is a disaster for the communists.
It's an amazing victory for the Americans and specifically for the South Vietnamese.
But because of the images that come out of Vietnam...
And then Johnson promising progress and this being kind of a setback.
Then this military victory becomes a really major political liability.
And of course, Johnson shortly afterwards going on television and saying, I'm not going to run for a second term.
Then just as people were starting to think, well, maybe we did win this.
