It was a very tough year for the referees around the National Hockey League this year.
It really was.
It was not a virtuoso year.
it was a tough year for officials all around the league.
And part of it is because we've got a two referee system on the ice.
We've had a lot of guys recently, veteran guys retire or they're hurt and they can't referee right now.
So you're rushing a lot of young guys in.
And then the third part of it, Tony, and I mean this sincerely, in the playoffs, especially in the third period, most of the times the rules change, whether people want to admit it or not.
And you hear people say it all the time, let the players decide the game.
Well, when you'd say that, you got to be consistent with it.
The problem is it's not a level and consistent kind of a game.
And that's the problem.
if that's the case, because they're making a lot of decisions on a lot of different things.
