I have to tell you, Pierre, very optimistic going into the series as far as the Canadians were concerned. I was very optimistic after game one. I wasn't surprised what happened in game two or game three. I woke up this morning, and I said it on my show en français, and I said – You know, I woke up this morning feeling a couple of things that it's odd what's going on right now. And I said. I want to see how the Montreal Canadiens are going to react tonight going into Game 4 because there's something going on right now in Montreal and with the Canadiens that we're not used to.
And I asked everyone in studio, some of the people helping out and my co-host, if they knew exactly what I was referring to. And they all had good guesses. And I said, no, what I'm referring to is... the Canadians have become the favorite in their series. And they weren't the favorite going into the series versus Buffalo, because obviously Buffalo won the division, and the Buffalo Sabres were the best team in hockey since the first week of December. They were not the favorite in round one versus Tampa. They were not the favorite last year versus the Washington Capitals. You go back to 21, they were not the favorite in the final versus Tampa. They were not the favorite in the semifinal versus Vegas.
And the only time anyone felt pretty good about the Canadians' chances is when the league and the NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Mark Shifley would be suspended for four games after his hit on Jake Evans in round two. At that point, everyone started to say, you know what, without Shifley, I think the Canadians are going to beat the Jets. So tonight the Canadians were favorite. Everyone was talking about Buffalo had no answer for the Canadians and this one could possibly be over in five. And I said, I want to see how the Canadians are going to react.
