This is the thing politicians often say they really hate, because they know that the public don't like to see people arguing instead of solving things.
And they'll talk it down as punch and Judy politics, which is such a naff phrase.
Who even knows what a Punch and Judy show is.
That's true, yeah.
The public is sick of crocodiles stealing sausages in our politics or whatever it is.
A policeman coming and beating up a horrible man.
It's such an annoying thing because I would accept it if they said, oh, too many of politicians' speeches are just calling the other person wrong as opposed to being defiantly correct.
When you look at Blair...
And when you look at Thatcher speaking about some mad policy they're going to introduce or some bold new policy or whatever it is that they think is going to work and that they believe in, none of the speech about the policy is devoted to how the other side feel about it.
Mm-hmm.
It's all just about, I'm here, I'm in charge, here's what I think is going to work, and this is why it'll be good.
And it's bombastic, and it's very, very clear, but it doesn't ever give the other side airtime.
Whereas I feel like now, a lot of speeches are half about how the other guy is wrong, in case you were wondering.
Oh, interesting.
That is annoying, but equally it is annoying when someone in the business of winning elections with votes, or points, if you will, says they don't want to score...

Yeah, that's interesting.
That's funny.
Yeah.
