A man was shot who ICE is claiming is here illegally.
And they are saying that he fled illegally.

A completely different version of that story now is coming from his side with he and his attorney saying that he was driving along.
They pulled up in an unmarked car.
He was not exactly sure who they were.
That he tried to comply with them, and he was eventually shot in his back.
He's a Venezuelan national.
His name is Wilbur Perez.
He claims that he was seeking asylum in the United States, was going through that process.
He had a hearing to attend, but that he had changed addresses.
And when they sent a notification out for the hearing, he was at a new address, never got back.

And then the next thing he knew, they were starting a deportation process, which ICE was acting on on Sunday.
What was unusual on Monday is that Mr. Perez actually
was talking to his wife and they put him on the telephone during the press conference.
And he described in his own words how the shooting went down and exactly what his medical condition was.
