But it was really this kind of communion with paint that was happening.

And there's one particular work called Early One Morning, and she was also such a genius with titling, because to call something that work in the twilight of your life is really powerful.

And I love that work because it shows how...

I think she really is, obviously I'll be biased, but I think she's one of the most amazing colorists in art history, dare I say it.

And that painting, I can never work out what color it is because sometimes I think of it as a blue painting and then I look at it again and it's like, oh no, no, I think it's yellow today.

Or sometimes it's like magenta and that body of work is really special.

But I think that particular painting is something I would be happy to look at for the rest of my life.

I think making art is like an act of hope, isn't it?

Because you're either imagining a different world or you're proposing a way to understand our world.

So I think art is for hoping, art is for remaining hopeful against all odds.
