Bruce Puck, Avery Hayes has a step, he's on a breakaway, he scores!
You can't script this stuff!
Kept in by Waters, scored, Mather in front, Hayes, he scores!
Two goals for Avery Hayes in his NHL debut!
How about it, kid?
Super cool, Avery Hayes.
23 years old.
Last year, had a bunch of goals in the AHL.
This year, he's contributed a lot in the AHL.
You can see he is a monster on the forecheck because he's a little water bug out there.
The speed that he showed on that first goal is something that any team in the league, I think...
wishes they could have.
I know our good friend Jesse Marshall tweeted like a year and a half ago, when Hayes makes it to the league, he's going to stay because he can be such a disruptor in the bottom six with his forecheck ability and his speed and his PK and all that fun stuff.
So we got to see that last night.
The big story here is
is you had a guy make his NHL debut, he scores two goals, and you have Ben Kendall score again, who's 18 years old.
And so while we talk about the Patriots and how bad it is, how much it sucks that they're back without Brady, without Belichick,
Here come the Pittsburgh Penguins again that if the season ended today would be in a playoff series with home ice against the New York Islanders.
And they're doing it, yes, with Crosby and Malkin playing well and Letang when he was healthy finally turning his game around and Eric Carlson playing well.
But they're doing it with a bunch of under 30 guys.
