So in a way, that's a complementary system.
And fermented foods contain live microbes in food.
So they're like probiotic tablets, but actually living and they're in food and they're much more diverse.

The key is to think of food as a quality, not calories.
Because the food companies want us to think about food solely in terms of macronutrients and calories.
And that helps them, but it doesn't help your gut microbes.
They want quality.
They want real food.
And we should be thinking about the quality of the food we're eating and ignore calories because calorie counting just doesn't work.
Nobody in my field in nutrition now believes in them.
A teaspoon of spices counts as a plant.
You're talking about every different type of nut and seed.
