Yes.
Then they tested these four common sweeteners and found that two of them had a uh a marked impact on the way they handled blood sugar.
So their glucose levels were uh altered so that the insulin wasn't working as well as in the other one.
So of the four sweeteners they found the two
uh very common one, saccharin and sucralose.
which are in many products, blunted the uh glucose response.
So this is the response that when your blood sugar goes up, your insulin gets triggered to get the sugar levels down.
So this meant that the the glucose was hanging around longer in your body when they did a formal test.
So everybody in this study had these formal uh glucose tolerance tests, we call it, which to stress the system.
So that was a major finding that essentially having these two products could over time lead to an increased risk of diabetes.
The other finding was that all four of them and the other two were uh Aspartame and uh Stevia.
which you find in many sodas and and um and drinks.
So all four of them affected the gut microbiome.
uh and cause what we call a dysbiosis.
So they shifted the gut microbes uh in ways they think were broadly negative.
And then when they did another experiment is they
Transplanted the poo samples from individuals that had the biggest negative effect of the sweeteners on their gut microbes into sterile mice.
And those mice then developed diabetes-type problems.
So it's a bit of a complicated story, but what it's saying is that.
um two things.
