Well, it's a lot when, you know, you're paying rent and they're cutting your phone off.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So I'm lying in bed on the 23rd of December feeling a bit sort of dejected, you know, that I'm 100 grand in debt and things aren't happening fast enough.
And anyway, I had this idea that I thought I could go out.
And so these were the days you had to go down to the Department of Fair Trading to register a business name.
and so i registered the the company and uh and on the 6th of december less than 12 oh eight weeks later i convinced merrill lynch private clients to invest in that business and they invested one million and sixty thousand dollars at a valuation of 10 million so i'd gone from 100 grand in the hole eight weeks later i had 1.6 million in the bank
And by the end of the year, 6th of December, it had listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, making me one of the youngest ever CEOs on the Australian Stock Exchange.
And I was worth 9.6 mil.
The company had a market cap of just under 30 mil on IPO.
And that happened all in the space of a couple of months.
Well, a couple of months to get the initial investment and less than a year to take it from an idea to being worth $9.6 million on the Australian Stock Exchange.
And what was that idea?
It was to create a trust mark for security and privacy in customer service.
Now, that company got taken over by Computer Corp, but I kept my original business, which was the Customer Service Institute of Australia, which was a certification, training, and awards company.
We used to run the Australian Service Excellence Awards.
And that was the business that I eventually built into the CSIA group, which in December 2013, I sold to a company called Vocation, which listed on the Australian Stock Exchange with a market cap of 400 mil.
My payday was 78 million cash and the rest in shares.
I think the actual full amount was 99.4 mil.
So I never made that $100 million exit.
But luckily the shares doubled.
