That's why he loses all those men on the Cyclops Island, but he learns from that.
By the time it comes to the sirens, a later episode, he's learned how not to risk his men while indulging his curiosity.
He gets tied up to the mast so he can hear the siren song because they know everything, they're omniscient, but he puts wax in the men's ears to look after them.
By the time he gets to Ithaca, he's learned patience, right?
He stays for weeks in these rags in disguise, being insulted.
He's learned how to prepare everything.
He makes sure that all the arms and weapons are locked up.
He keeps up the secrecy.
We're showing him evolving into a very good leader through learning from experience.
So we go on a journey with him where we learn lessons about how to be a good leader.
I'm very adamant about this because lots of scholars say he doesn't evolve.
And I think it's patently obvious to me that there's a real effort.
So the other example is boasting.
After the Cyclops incident, he does not need to reveal his name.
You've got to know the name to curse.
And it's that curse that causes all the subsequent problems and deaths.
That's why when he gets to Ithaca, he does not have a name.
He keeps it under his hat till he wins the contest of the bow, rips off his rags and says, hey, I'm back.
Payback time.
