And the Tyrians then just absolutely lay into them with arrows, with every kind of artillery from all of the boats.

The Greeks are kind of silhouetted against the flames, so it's just basically target practice for them.

And they only sail away when the two siege towers are gutted hulks and the promontory itself, a lot of the furthest out to sea bits of the promontory are just burned to ashes.

So this is a huge and horrible setback for Diades and for Alexander.

And giving up would make sense, right?

Because so far, Alexander has been fully outthought, outplayed, outmaneuvered.

The Tyrians are still secure in their city.

He's managed to inflict basically minimal casualties.

And he's still hundreds of meters from the city.

He's not even got halfway yet.

But Alexander decides to keep going.

So Diades basically is set to work rebuilding the broken promontory, building two new, larger, fireproof, this time, siege towers.

And basically just keeping on going.

The work advances, the promontory advances.

But then when they start to get further offshore, of course, the seabed slopes down.

So they find they have to throw even more rocks, even more trees, and even more materials into the ocean, into the sea, in order to hopefully sort of start to build the promontory up.

So the work slows down.

It's frustrating.

It's exhausting.

The Greeks have fed up.
