But this is kind of the big version.

This is the big mama catapult, okay.

This is the beast.

And he's been experimenting on this for weeks.

But he finally manages to get it into service and stop it kind of coming to pieces and sending the rocks in the wrong direction.

And...

He lines up a few of them on the end of the promontory and sort of kind of mentally, you know, crosses his fingers, so to speak, and tests them.

And he finds that they don't just reach the walls of Tyre, they reach the walls with sufficient force to do damage.

And this is horrifying for the Tyrians, because they have artillery of their own, they have siege engines of their own, and as I said, they're the world's foremost chemists, they're incredible engineers.

But

Their own catapults, even when they're firing from the walls, even when they're firing from high above, cannot reach the causeway.

They can't reach Diades' machines.

So they're starting to realize, wait a minute, this is something here that we have no idea how to defeat.

This is a kind of technology we've never seen before.

And Diades just keeps building these catapults and he keeps lining them up.

And he just essentially batters the walls of Tyre and comes up against and starts to do some serious damage.

He's not managed to knock anything down.

He's not managed to sort of clear a path yet.

But he's able to hurt the city in a way that it had never been hurt before.

So the Tyrians are starting to get really nervous.
