We've got the 80s.

We need to think about the 70s.

Just to put a small pin in that and say, we don't yet know

what happened in the 70s.

I just want this one example.

If you look at the Journal of the American Medical Association, and then I will talk about the 80s, I promise.

I spend a lot of time thinking about the 80s also.

There are articles in the Journal of the American Medical Association in the mid-70s that talk about community-acquired pneumonia among intravenous drug users.

In the mid 70s.

So I say that as a precursor to explain that if you read that article that appeared in the New York Times on July 3rd, 1981, I have many versions of it.

I have the

single column that runs along the left side with a huge advertisement for a bank on the other.

I grew up in New York City.

That was where I, you know, I was a young preteen in 1981.

And the first person my family knew who died of AIDS, Kevin Majors, was 1983.

So I have a real sense of this, I mean, a real deep connection
