There were some, I mean, there were certainly doctors and nurses and pharmacists, dermatologists who did all sorts of things to take care of people, but people were literally dying in front of us.

And again, just to say, we know how

We're working with telephones on a wall and mail and fax machines everywhere.

And the mechanisms of communication that we now know were completely different and non-existent.

So you would see posters up all around the East and West Village of New York City.

You would see phone trees.

There were buddy systems.

The gay men's health crisis emerges, I think, in 82, 83.

It happens in San Francisco.

There's this incredible effort

Primarily initially by gay men, but then by huge, like much bigger allied communities emerging to create a care system in a vacuum.

I mean, the Reagan administration, the city government, it's true in the UK as well.

I mean, the government is nowhere.

Nowhere at all.
