That's really what this is to me.

On one hand, for Justice Barrett to have the audacity to talk about precedent,

when ruling after ruling by this right-wing Supreme Court has undermined precedent, whether it was on Roe, whether it was on civil rights, whether it was on voting rights, they have repeatedly undermined precedent.

So one, for her to lecture somebody who's far more accomplished is shocking and insulting.

But two, I think it ignores this fundamental thing that when we talk about what makes this republic special, what makes our democracy, our democratic republic special,

is the separation of powers.

We have three branches of government, each with individual aligned powers, and no one branch can overstep the other or has more or less power and authority than others.

Sure, they have different, you know, like the judiciary can't create law, they can't enforce law, but they can decide what law is constitutional and can be upheld.

And so for her to lecture Justice Jackson to say that simply because you want to limit the president's power to what the Constitution calls it to be is somehow imperial, it's just nonsensical.

To me, this is an unwarranted stab at her.

It makes no sense whatsoever.

And it's hypocritical coming from a woman who has led the charge on undoing immense precedent, even despite confirming in her hearing that she would not undo that precedent.

Well, let's be clear on this ruling.

They did not decide on the merits just yet.

They sent this back to the lower course.

They said that they think that the parents would win on the merits, and so they should get preliminary relief.

So I'm just talking about the procedure right now of where we are.

And so they're saying that it should go through full appellate review.

And for now, the school board should notify parents in advance of any books like this that are going to be used and allow them to withdraw their children.
