Today, we are talking to the Northern Irish writer, Jan Carson, about her flippin' brilliant new book, which is called Few and Far Between.
It's set on an imagined archipelago on Lough Neagh.

Kate, you're busy today because your first story is about a launch you have to go to later on.
And my own father died by suicide.
And I know everybody sort of, a lot of people know people and it's...
And I mean, I think what's great is like when my dad did that, you know, we didn't talk about it and we didn't have, there was no things like suicide or survive and there wasn't places to go to to talk about it and I think that's really damaging because it kind of becomes a shameful secret then.
Exactly.
And it shouldn't be because it happens and we have to deal with it and yeah, the more we talk about it, I think the more people feel there's somewhere to go where they can speak about these feelings rather than... Absolutely and it's not a shameful thing and
When you have organisations like that, there's a place where they can feel safe.
