Can you explain the sources and importance of the love of Malka and why people tend to be less careful about it throughout the year?
Okay, there's a lot here.
If you look in my Sefer Hakon Ha'Lamo on Shabbos, I have a whole chapter about this, so I'll refer you to that, but some Rashi prakan.
The Gemara in Shabbos Kufi Etes tells us that
even though you're not going to eat much, you should be Masada Shulchano, and Chamed Moshe Shabbos Malugma, Pascham Moshe Shabbos Malugma, you should have hot food, you should have bread on Moshe Shabbos, and that Rabbi Avoh would prepare a separate animal just for the sake of Malava Malka.
A lot of things that you see from that Gemara, that apparently setting the table is an Indian, so you shouldn't just stand up and eat a slice of pizza as you're walking around.
In general, that's not an appropriate thing to do.
Ideally, there should be something warm at the Su'udah, and that's healthy.
And washing, apparently, seems to be... Having bread seems to be an Indian at Malav Malka.
There are a number of reasons offered for Melech HaMalka, but essentially in some way or another, it's a way of showing kavod for Shabbos.
As far as how khash of the Sudah is, the Ritva writes that it's not a Chiyuv, and that's why the Alter Rebbe writes in Shulchan Archarav that when you're Maruch in Sudah Shlishes and you're not able to eat on Matzei Shabbos, then you could be Yotzei Melech HaMalka with Peiros.
And you don't need to be careful to eat Sudr Shlishas earlier in order to be able to eat Melech HaMalka properly.
Because Melech HaMalka is Mitzvah Menamuvchar.
However, the Chai Adam says that Ashremi, fortunate is one and praiseworthy is one who eats Sudr Ravis, the pass that actually has pass.
If you can't have pass, Mizonos.
But the Enchayadim says that it is a Chiyuv Gamor.
It could be he even means a Chiyuv Daraisa, that it's part of Kavod Shabbos, you know, Kedosh Hashem Mechubad, and if you hold Shalashud, this is Daraisa.
Maybe, maybe, Malav Malaka is part of that.
