And in his statement, he announced that phase two was gonna begin.
And what he said was as follows, and I'm quoting from his tweet, phase two establishes a transitional technocratic Palestinian administration and begins the full demilitarization and reconstruction of Gaza,
And then it says the U.S.
expects Hamas to comply fully with its obligations, including the immediate return of the final deceased hostage.
Failure to do so will bring serious consequences.
So look, if we stick to that, Israel is fine and this will actually succeed.
Bottom line, this is not just about Israel's security.
If Hamas is not disarmed, then this will just be more death and destruction and conflict and it'll all blow up and it won't work.
That has to happen first.
That's my advice to the president.
Listen, who's going to be providing security?
Ultimately, Israel's going to have a say in that.
And so long as our security concerns are covered, you want to call it a state, call it a state.
Look, we pulled out of Gaza in 2005, and they basically had a state there in Gaza.
They can call it whatever they want.
