Today, I have an amazing relationship with my two kids and I completely understand all of the choices that they make.

Like, would I still be sober if my kids came home when I wanted them to come home?

You know, would I still be sober if I had just picked up life where I had left off?

I don't think so, Brenda.

You know, because a lot of people say recovery gives you your life back.

I don't believe that.

I think recovery gives you a new life.

And it is what you make of it.

I have had serious trials and tribulations since I've become sober, clean and sober.

Those drugs were not forgotten about, you know.

I had a huge court case.

the scariest thing I ever did and in the period of the six weeks we'd say by the time when my kids left till the time I surrendered to my addiction I'd picked up a good few charges there as well you know things that I did so I had to face all them and I had to face them all sober which was fucking shit my partner is absolutely amazing he is absolutely amazing had you met him before you went into treatment yeah yeah we kind of got clean together

Yeah, the two of us, you know.

We have completely different backgrounds.

But we have the same disease.

He understands me.

I understand him.

We fucking kill each other.
