that he actually goes to the satellite offices of the Emperor Nero that are located in Jerusalem, and he says to them, the Jewish community, all of them, are planning a secret revolt against Rome.

Now, that was not true, but he was so filled with shame and anger and hurt that he tells this story to this satellite office of Rome, and it doesn't happen overnight.

In fact, the emperor Vespasian is the one who ends up with his son Titus, who's sort of the governor in charge of Jerusalem at the time in 70 CE.

So we're going to preempt that and we're going to make them miserable and they make us miserable.

And then they end up destroying the temple.

First of all, I think it's really interesting that it's showing how much emotional pain can be equated in the law to immorality.

Because remember, in the Talmud, it says the first temple is destroyed because of murder and theft and immorality and idolatry.

And the second temple is destroyed because of baseless hatred.

Ergo, these things are equal to each other.

So I see in all three of these a failure of leadership because in the spy story, we have the leaders who are going, who come back and they don't know how to speak to their people in the right way.

In the first temple period, we know that coming from the kings down, the kings were vassal kings.

They were not behaving.

And we see now in the third example at this party where it was the luminaries and the most respected people were there and they allowed this to happen.

They knew.

It wasn't that they didn't know.

They're watching this man be humiliated publicly and they know it's wrong and they are silent.

And they allow it to happen.

The silence is so loud.

And remember, we also come from a tradition that most of us have seen.
